As part of their regular touring schedule, the Schola Cantorum of St Barnabas Cathedral Nottingham will be embarking on a short tour of Northern Ireland performing music written by composer-in-residence Alex Patterson.
From Friday 29 June to Monday 2 July 2012, the choir, conducted by Alex Patterson, will perform in a series of concerts and services across Northern Ireland, from Downpatrick to Armagh and Belfast.
All performances will include choral works from his first CD, 'I lift up my eyes' which includes 'Ave Maria', 'Missa Brevis', 'Two Pieces for Remembrance' and the title track, 'I lift up my eyes'.
The choir will also perform one of Alex’s most recent works, 'Lead, kindly Light’ which described as 'radiantly beautiful’ following a performance by the joint choirs of St Barnabas & St Mary’s Nottingham in a prelude to their performance of Elgar’s ‘The Dream of Gerontius’ in February 2012.
Just before setting off on their short tour, the choir will take part in the City of Nottingham's Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations by singing a light-inspired programme of music at the Royal Concert Hall at 8.30pm.
